  Kathryn O'Shea

HONEY BUTTER BISCUITS.

Kathryn O'Shea is a singer/songwriter born in Asheville, NC. Known for her unmistakable voice and commanding presence, her songs employ both allegorical and confessional stories to interweave lessons of nature and humanity.

Presenting solo until now, carried only by her voice and minimalistic electric banjo picking, Kathryn O'Shea has been conjuring catharsis for strangers in venues across the United States since 2018. But in the spring of 2022, Honey Butter Biscuits was born on a porch in West Asheville when O’Shea’s good buddies Laura Boswell and Patrick French hopped on board. Both accomplished singer/songwriters in their own right, Patrick and Laura imbue the songs with delicate melodies and intricate rhythms all while skillfully carving out sonic space for Kathryn’s poignant poeticism to shine.

Patrick and Laura are both multi-instrumentalists who perform, record, and tour nationally and internationally with various projects (The US Guitar Orchestra, WellSpring, Jack Marion & The Pearl Snap Prophets, Melissa McKinney, Kevin Daniel, and more) in addition to producing their own solo projects.

Joined by Lee Dyer (Aunt Vicki, The Mouthbreathers) on trumpet and Lois “Lytingale” Henrickson (O’Shea’s mom!) on background vocals, the group premiered their harmony-driven folk sound at LEAF Festival in May 2022. Shortly after their debut, the band was invited to perform at Culturefest (Pipestem, WV) and added to the Saturday night mainstage lineup at Fallout Fest (Alexander, NC) later that season.

The Biscuits are humbled and galvanized by the glowing responses they’ve received so far and look forward to spending the winter developing their sound and booking tour dates for 2023.
